What’s the Difference?
Wedding Planner? Day of Coordinator? Venue Coordinator?
Wedding Planner: This person guides the couple through the planning process from setting the budget to keeping Aunt Sally away from Uncle Buck. The wedding planner will also answer the couple’s questions, assist with contract and vendor negotiations, and create a detailed timeline of the wedding day events. Be sure to ask your wedding planner if they provide event design services. Event designers help make your event cohesive and stylish. They have an artistic eye that can truly transform a space.
Day of Coordinator: A Day of Coordinator (usually a month of service) is all about logistics but on a shorter timeline than a planner. They will confirm vendor contracts and create a day of timeline, as well as make sure payments and guest counts are in order. They will coordinate everything involved on the day of the event from set up to breakdown, make sure everything is in order, nothing is forgotten, and you are free to enjoy your day!
Venue Coordinator: This person is usually the individual you met with the day you signed your venue contract. They will handle the set up of all tables and chairs, manage the food and beverage provided by the venue, coordinate placement of wedding items with wedding planner and handle venue-parking logistics and manage venue staff. Be sure to ask your venue coordinator all of the tasks they will handle on your day.
